experience

As the corporate lead in the marketing and communications department, I took on all aspects of public relations, communications, social media, marketing, trade show coordination, and graphic design work. I managed and coordinated company-wide branding, press requests, website development, and all corporate communication partnerships and advertising.

Working as a freelancer, my job was to continually explore new communication tools, test drive new ways to market products with corporate sponsors, and continually stay in the conversation. Clients included Toronto Star, Flare Magazine, Canadian Living, and HostelBookers.com.

In 2011, I co-founded and organized the first and only personal finance conference in Canada. To date, it has sold out every year. We were responsible for all conference-related details from driving online marketing to finding venues, securing catering, and hosting the event.

I helped develop targeted direct mail, media, e-mail, and advertising campaigns, as well as executed marketing plans, coordinated web development projects, and marketing campaign analysis when needed. Part of my job was to also monitor social media accounts, and write blog posts.

This job required me to take on three different roles as required: marketing, sales, and graphic design. I coordinated trade shows, sponsorship requests, and the production of marketing material. I was the social media project leader, and helped develop direct mail, e-mail, media, and advertising campaigns.

As the marketing lead for 30+ Realtors across the province, I coordinated, designed, and produced all corporate marketing materials, maintained brochure and web content for a database of over 400 listings, and assisted with media buying as required.

I supervised a team of 5-7 promotions staff, implemented and coordinated approved events developed by the marketing team, and assisted with media relations as required. Daily duties included liaising with fans, sponsors, players, and management.

about

With over 8 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, and writing, my career has spanned a variety of different industries. From ghost writing in the provincial government, event coordinating for a professional hockey team, to marketing cold water survival gear – I’ve done just about everything. These experiences have given me the ability to easily adapt, learn quickly, and hit the ground running in any new working environment.

I spent 2012 working abroad in Stuttgart, Germany. There, I worked remotely for clients such as the Toronto Star (Moneyville.ca), Canadian Living, and Flare Magazine. I also cultivated relationships with corporate sponsors who helped me launch websites, travel throughout Europe, and drive unique content online.

Prior to my career, I earned a full athletic scholarship to Central Michigan University. There, I became a First Team Mid-American Conference All-Star while studying sports marketing and journalism. I eventually found myself back in Canada, where I graduated with a marketing and communications diploma from Camosun College in Victoria.

In my spare time, I love travelling, hiking, tweeting, and analyzing baseball statistics.
